The RealTeam Home Selling Roadmap

Stop 8 of 12

Negotiate and Accept an Offer

📍 A successful negotiation is not only about winning a point. It is about reaching terms you are willing and able to complete.

We communicate and prepare the paperwork while you approve every price, term, counteroffer, and final decision.

🤝 Your Goals Guide the Negotiation

Before responding, we identify what matters most to you. Price may be the priority, but timing, certainty, possession, requested costs, repairs, or included property may also affect your decision.

We explain how the terms work together and help you consider the practical effect of each possible response. You decide which terms are acceptable.

💬 How Counteroffers Work

A counteroffer proposes changes to the buyer’s offer. Those changes may address price, closing costs, dates, contingencies, personal property, or other provisions. A counteroffer is not an acceptance; it is a new proposal that the other party may accept, reject, or counter again.

We draft the response according to your instructions, communicate with the buyer’s agent, and keep you informed as the negotiation develops.

⏱ Deadlines and Clear Communication

Offers and counteroffers often contain expiration times. We monitor the deadlines and make sure you understand when a response is needed. Quick decisions may sometimes be helpful, but we do not make them for you.

Clear written terms reduce misunderstandings. We use the appropriate forms and encourage questions before you sign.

✅ When an Offer Becomes a Contract

A transaction becomes binding when the required parties have signed and acceptance has been properly communicated according to the contract and applicable law. Once under contract, both sides must follow the written terms and deadlines.

We provide a copy of the completed agreement, calendar important dates, notify the appropriate professionals, and begin coordinating the next stage.

🚏 Before We Continue...

Here are a few questions sellers often ask at this stop.

Should I always counter an offer?

No. Depending on the terms and your goals, you may accept, reject, counter, or allow the offer to expire. We explain the possible consequences and follow your decision.

Can I change my mind after accepting?

A signed and accepted contract may be legally binding. Contact us immediately, and obtain legal advice before taking any action that could affect your obligations.

Who communicates with the buyer?

We normally communicate through the buyer’s agent and prepare the appropriate written documents. You approve the substance of every response.
